Youth Services

Youth Services Committee activities

Worldwide, Rotary promotes the interests of young people through a huge range of health, educational and cultural initiatives. Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland supplements these opportunities with many of its own devising, and the work of all club Youth Services committees is in the first instance to consider the relative merits of what might be made available for their local young people, before selecting what can best be managed with the time and resources available.

September to February: Youth Speaks
An excellent public-speaking competition run at Junior (under 11), Intermediate (under 14) and Senior levels, with the top two age groups potentially reaching national-level finals in May. Junior finalists present their topics at the District 1175 Conference in March. Unfortunately, on hold for this season due to the Covid 19

November: Young Artist
Calling on all young artists to this new competition as far as our Club is concerned.

February to May: Young Writers
Another new competition as far as our Club is concerned. We hope to interest those too shy for public speaking.
