The Rotary Shelterbox Project

The Club has made regular donations to Shelterbox since 2005. The project was devised by a Rotarian in 2000 based on the principle that the prime need of people affected by natural or man-made disasters is shelter. Boxes are packed with a 10-man tent and emergency supplies such as sleeping bags, crockery, cutlery, cooking equipment & hardware, and stored until required for deployment. Immediately after a disaster a Shelterbox Response Team is dispatched to the affected area to assess the need, establish contact with other aid agencies, local organisations and Rotary Clubs, and supervise the distribution of boxes to those who really need them.
