Bobby Cairns: Steven Renwick - Update on Waverley Line

Club Meeting with Guest Speaker


President Scott Elliot introduced Steven Renwick of the Borders Railway Waverley Project to address the club at last week's meeting.  With an illustrated lecture Steven gave a comprehensive view of the progress to date.  Since he last spoke at the club tremendous progress had been made and the railway was due to be up and running by 2015.  In November, 2012, Transport Scotland handed over funding to Network Rail and they contracted BAM to deliver the Project.  400 people have been engaged in the work to provide track and 8 stations between Edinburgh Waverley and Tweedbank.  At present 3,000 carriages are in operation in Scotland at a cost of
