Council and Business Meeting:

Thu, Sep 5th 2013 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

.

President Scott Elliot chaired last week's meeting of the Rotary Club when he called for a reflective silence to honour the sad passing of Past President Ian Seeley who tragically and suddenly passed away in Calais, France, earlier in the week.  Ian was a dedicated Rotarian of many years standing and held Rotary's highest honour, a Paul Harris Fellowship, for his excellent service to the movement.  His support to Rotary and very many other organisations in the town would be sadly missed.
A business meeting followed when a review of activities to date and future plans were discussed.  The grocery raffle sale of tickets at Morrison's Superstore is being held on 10th/11th October, the proceeds of which will go to local charities.  Several members had assisted the RNLI at their recent successful flag week.  Foundation is holding a film show and later a quiz evening which will support the Rotary project 'End Polio Now.'  The International Committee are distributing shoe boxes to be filled and sent to the needy in Eastern Europe.
