The Grand East Anglian Run
John Harrison completed his biathlon in aid of Homestart
Well done John. In appalling conditions John completed the GEAR in 64 mins 26 seconds - beating Richards' time last year by 1 minute (curses). There was torrential rain from the start and a strong wind which made it unpleasant for competitors, spectators and the many stewards from the club. Having finished the run, John donned his lycra and set off from the Homestart office for Swaffham on his bike. The sun came out and it must have been pretty hot work in the humid conditions by the end, but our intrepid leader made it to the end - a really impressive performance. We don't yet know the amount of funding raised but there is still time to donate to homestart by using this link http://JustGiving.com - at the top of the screen you will be given the opportunity to search for a name. Among the many John Harrisons you will find John and just follow the instructions.
we were delighted that 3 of the schools to whom we give "Dictionaries for Life" responded to the challeng of raising money for Whizz Kidz.
- St German's Primary School organised their own fun run and raised 83
- St Martha's Primary School had over 100 pupils, parents and staff in the race and raised an amazing 2515, getting the award for the primary school with most participants
- Gayton Primary School raised 325
Preisdent Richard also participated raising 857 and finishing in just over 65 mins. His just giving site is still open at www.justgiving.com/Richard-High
Together with the 250 contributed to help secure a Rotary Foundation grant last year and 306.63 raised in a street collection that means a total of 4330 raised for Whizz Kidz over the last year.
