President Scott Elliot welcomed members to last week's meeting and a visitor from Langholm, Dr Mark Phillips. The speakers Gordon Gilfeather and Eric Scotland gave an excellent illustrated talk on "Hawick - past and present". They came into possession of old photos of Hawick and decided to update them by taking the same photos today which showed many changes had taken place especially around the Railway Station and the Waverley Line through the town. Many parts still remained although some were partially obscured by foilage and greenery. They made them into two DVD's with music and commentary and sold them to the public, the profits going to local charities. They also installed them in Deanfield Home and West Port Centre where they are much enjoyed and created stimulating talk among the residents and users. Several questions followed and Tommy Mulvee, who had sponsored the DVD's, gave the vote of thanks for a very interesting talk.
