Club meeting with visiting speakers

President Scott Elliot welcomed members to last week's meeting when he introduced Mary Daykin who gave a comprehensive talk on the group People First Borders.  She heads up the organisation which assists those with learning difficulties in the understanding and completion of obligatory, official forms which is a major concern to them, especially relating to benefits.  There are five groups in the Borders with one in Hawick and sessions are held on ten different subjects.  She is also involved with Borders Care Learning Network and they offer free training in care related topics to staff, volunteers, family carers and any interested person and meetings are held across the Borders.  It has become so popular that there are now waiting lists for many courses.  Robin Mason thanked Mary for her informative talk and wished her organisation well for the future.
  The club agreed to donate
