Martyn Turner awarded a Paul Harris Fellow

At the lunch time meeting on Wednesday 9th July Martyn Turner was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow.

At the lunch time meeting on Wednesday 9th July Past President Gordon awared a Paul Harris fellow to Past President Martyn Turner.

Martyn Turner has given 25 years of dedicated service to the Rotary club of Grimsby and to the Rotary ideal of service.

Not a year has gone by when he has not made a significant contribution to the club.

He has been a member of the international and environmental committees.

He has served on council for a number of years.

He was President in the millennium year during which he was instrumental in organising the Club Millenium Book containing pen portraits of all members of the Club at the millennium. When President, he also started the fund raising for the construction of deep tube wells in India which was completed the following year.

He organised the main fundraising event of the club, the Rotary Ramble, for about 10 years and has taken an active part in its successor, the Dock Tower climb & abseil.

He has actively supported the twinning with the Rotary Club of Pierrefitte, visiting France several times and hosting Rotarians from that club in his home. He also supported the twinning with the Dutch club, Den Helder, visiting Holland and hosting Rotarians from that club.

He has organised and been a member of our team in the district 1270 quiz for many years and organised fifth Wednesday evenings for our own club quiz competitions.

He has been our publicity officer for the last four years and created our club
