Brian Budden, President of Wadebridge Rotary Club, presented a cheque for £1,000 to Chris Riddle, Chairman of the Council of Trustees of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).
Founded in 1860 RABI provides care and support for farmers, farm workers, farm managers and their dependants. Many of those supported are retired people who are struggling to get by on low incomes or who may be experiencing times of crisis or disability. Ages range from young children to people over 100 years old.
The professionally qualified team works sensitively and in complete confidence and helps people to help themselves. In recognition of its work a Royal Charter was granted by King George V at a reception to mark the charity's 75th anniversary in 1935, which was updated to better reflect the needs of the charity in the 21st century. The money donated was raised by Wadebridge Rotary Club at its Wheels 2014 event at the Royal Cornwall showground.
