Public Speaking Competition - Final - 2014

Tue, Nov 25th 2014 at 12:00 am - 12:00 am

The 2014 Public Speaking Final was held in Glasgow Caledonian University.

Charles Forbes - Winner

Murray Webster and Olivia McCann - Second equal

Freya Brady - Carole Horne Quaich

What an amazing standard the Glasgow schools put up this year. Despite unprece-dented call-offs in the first heat with colds and injuries and perhaps the odd cold feet, the rest of the heats were very well attended and the standard just went up and up.

My thanks to Ian Callander for a highly com-petent performance as Master of Ceremonies, and to Bill and Judith for chairing the judging and having the hugely difficult task with third member of the final judging team, Ken. Not a cut and dried decision and it was impossible to separate the 2nd and 3rd prize winners, so for the first time on record joint 2nd places were declared in a very tight competition. The S1-S3 was a done deal.

Winner - Charles Forbes, Hutchesons
