Rotary Club of Newent Cookery Lesson

6.45pm March 3rd at Newent School

 

Our wives/partners will drop us off at the School for 6.45pm and hopefully someone can organise where they can meet up for an hour and then will join us by 8.15pm to eat a Romantic Two Course Dinner

Each Rotarian to bring the following ingredients to serve 2 and their own Wine or Beer and glasses for themselves and their Partners.

p.s. Bring an apron to look professional !!!!!!!!!!

 

Main Course (Serves Two)

Chicken & Ham Pie with New potatoes and Season Vegetables

500gm Chicken Breast

100gm Ham

1 Large Leek

1 Onion

37gm Butter

1 x Chicken Stock Cube

Teaspoon Nutmeg

2 Tablespoons Flour or Corn Flower

1 x Small Pot Single Cream (This will also be used with the Dessert)

New Potatoes and Some Seasonal Vegetables of choice

 

Topping

30gm Margarine or Butter

30gm Lard

120gm Plain Flour

 

Dessert (Serves Two)

Apple Crumble

450gm Cooking Apples

50gm Brown Sugar

200gm Butter

Cinnamon &/or Cloves

 

Crumble

300gm Plain or SR Flour

175gm Brown Sugar

200gm Butter

On Sunday 25th Sept 2022, he arrived at John o'Groats on his charity cycle ride for Sue Ryder cancer charity, Leckhampton Court,Cheltenham, raising some £6,000 plus! Supported by his wife, Sally, driving the total route to support him, congratulations!

Amazing cycle challenge by our President John in support of the Sue Ryder Charity. The ride starts on 25th August & a daily Blog with photos will update on progress. Good Luck President John!

On 10th July President John completed the gruelling 104 km Cotswold cycle ride to support the Sue Ryder Neurological , Palliative & Treatment charity. Temperatures raised to 32 celsius , but all good training for the 'Big one' , his LEJOG challenge

Our 2022 Competition tee'd off on 10th October at Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club. (Recent winners were 2017 Richard Taylor, 2018 Paddy Roche, 2020 Ray Bell, 2021 Barrie Freeman). The Trophy was won by Neil with 32 points!

Newent & District Club members, working within the community of Highnam village, were assisted by 20 CUBS from the 31st (Highnam) Scout Group to plant nearly 5000 crocus bulbs on Tues 27th Sept, in celebration of Rotary campaign 'Purple4Polio'.
