Speaker: Jacqueline Stanton, Garden Planning

Mon, Aug 24th 2015 at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

A report was posted on our Facebook page on 5th July 2015 about the Rotary Club of Shepperton and Sunbury's entry to the Hampton Court Flower Show.
We were very pleased to have as our speaker this week Jacqueline Stanton, the designer of the award winning garden entry.
Jacqueline is a gardening enthusiast with many years experience of garden design and planning. She told us about the concept of the garden, the meaning of the plants used and the difficulties of providing the display during some of the hottest five days of the summer. The exhibit had been a real team effort by local Rotarians and had done much to bring Rotary to the attention of the general public. Her talk was illustrated by lovely photos of the flowerbox garden and the plants used. Enough to encourage anyone to pick up a trowel and follow her lead!
The vote of thanks was given by Colin Squire, a member of the club and Chairman of Squires Garden Centres who himself has extensive horticultural experience and is a regular prizewinner at the RHS shows.
