Speaker: Bryan Woodriff, Coins

Mon, Oct 26th 2015 at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

The change in our pockets is something we take pretty much for granted, so it was fascinating to hear more this week from club member, Professor Bryan Woodriff, about the history of British coins.
From the first coins which were hand produced to the amazing output of The Royal Mint (They produce coinage for one hundred countries, you know!) Bryan kept us enthralled with his whistle stop tour of the ever changing coins of the realm.
Bryan also has a small coin collection and brought a selection on the day to demonstrate his talk and to show to fellow members.
The box in the picture shows 12 replicas of the intriguing designs on some rare historical coins whose originals may be seen in various museums up and down the country
