John Bowskill, President of Rotary Club of Sunderland, visited to tell us about an ambitious project that they are taking on next year that it is hoped will create employment in the north east and encourage school leavers to become engineers.
Richard Noble and Andy Green are presently building a car with a Rolls Royce engine, that they hope will be able to break the present land speed record, when it races in South Africa next year.
These two gentlemen are coming to Sunderland and running two workshops at the Stadium of Light on 24th February 2016. The morning is for Primary aged children and the afternoon workshop is for those over 12 years of age. In the evening there is to be a dinner at the Stadium, at which Richard and Andy will speak.
The project team from Sunderland Rotary is enlisting support from neighbouring Rotary clubs and our club offered to give whatever help we can with this project.
