Rotary Club of Stirling meeting of 12/8/16

President Alan Rankin welcomed members to our business meeting. There were no visitors.  President Alan and SVP Stewart Wilson attended the recent district meeting in Perth. District has decided that the next meeting will be conducted on line. The club will await the outcome with some interest.  There is to be a district membership workshop on 16th October, and it was suggested that we should ask some of our newer members to represent the club.

Treasurer. All funds are in good shape, and our main income continues to be from the AM/AM, Gardening Scotland and the Xmas Thistle centre collection. As well as 18 separate contributions to other groups, we will contribute £3000 to the running of the Arion bus over the next two years. In addition, following the recent talk by Stirling Citizens for Sanctuary, members agreed we should also make a donation to this very worthwhile group. Secretary Sandy Farquharson commented on the ever increasing number of E Mails coming from District.

We are currently looking for candidates for next year's Euro scholar event, and the organisation of the primary school quiz is in hand. The final of this very successful competition will be in June in Aberdeen.

It was suggested that we should once again have a sponsored walk, possibly on the Fife coastal path next May or June.

Next meeting Speaker's host Gordon Murphy, Visitor's host Mike Queen.
