Rotary club of Stirling meeting of 3/3/17.
President Alan Rankin welcomed members, including our speaker Jim Cooper to our meeting. Three of our members had assisted at the primary school quiz organised by Carse of Stirling Rotary. Contestants from Allans school and Gargunnock have progressed to the next round.
Our speaker Jim Cooper, one our own members, gave his my job talk. Jim was born in Leeds and has followed a very varied career, starting with work in a butchers, soon moving on to catering, but was not settled and had a career in the services in mind at this point, eventually opting for the RAF. This took him to many postings including the Falklands, whose climate he described as being like a permanent bad day in Caithness. By the end of his service contract he had become interested in the early days of computing, progressing to work on offshore drilling rigs, and a degree in mechanical engineering. For the past four years, he has run his own business, but it was clear that this might not be his
final destination. The Vote of thanks was given by Peter Mehta who
commented that rather than a my job talk this had been a my jobs talk.
Next meeting on 10th March is a business meeting. Visitor's host sandy Morrison. For further info www.stirling.rotary1010.org
