Dinner - SGM

On Thursday 15th December 2016, President Brian Johnson welcomed 23 Rotarians to this lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

Five apologies for absence were received.

On reception, this week was Geoff Sampson who said grace and Peter May.

President Brian Johnson mentioned that the 60th Anniversary charter dinner will take place on 28th April 2017.

 

Ewen Macdonald had collected the Jam and Marmalade Jars for eventual filling with loose change to support End Polio Now.

 

Tracy Thomson advised that the Christmas Fayre which took place at the Markinch Parish Church Hall last Saturday 10th December 2016 had been poorly supported and thanked those who had supported the event. Geoff Sampson advised that they had raised £290.

 

Wilna Roger once again mentioned about the Handbag appeal where funds raised will go towards the Glenrothes Foodbank, Fife Woman’s aid at Gilvenhouse.

 

Geoff Sampson advised that the annual High 5.s Gavel competition would be taking place at Kirkcaldy High School with the Rotary Clubs of Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes participating along with Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes High Interactors on Thursday 15th December 2016.

 

Geoff Sampson in the absence of Community Chair Anne Sampson advised that all were welcome to support the senior Citizens Christmas party which would be taking place at Auchmuty High School on Friday 16th December 2016. It was also mentioned about supporting the other schools by collecting food which we can pass to the other High Schools in order that they can fill Christmas food parcels for distribution to the elderly of their areas.

There was no speaker this week as this was the clubs SGM where the positions of incoming President Lindsay Roy, Secretary Sheila Matthew Treasurer Geoff Sampson were confirmed for the next Presidential Year, as yet the club do not have nominations for SVP or JVP. Treasurer Walter Fletcher ran through last years examined accounts.

On reception, this week Thursday 22nd December will be Andy Strachan and Peter May with this being the clubs Christmas Lunch where the Christmas message will be given by Rev Carolann Erskine. The meeting being held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet at 12.45pm for 12.55pm.

This will be the last meeting with there being a two-week break. The next meeting will be held on 12th January 2017. The Rotary Club members would like to thank all who have supported the club over the past year and we wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
