Amersham Band

An appeal for support for planning permission

The Amersham Band has exciting plans!
Fred Harrison (President) and Caroline Perkins from the  Amersham Band came to the  Rotary Club of Amersham  meeting today to update us on their recent achievements and plans. We were informed that there are currently about 100 members of their organisation. They are divided into three separate bands:-
THE AMERSHAM BAND: This competitive band has risen to the top of the 2nd Section (National) and have performed with the best in the last 12 months.
THE AMERSHAM COMMUNITY BRASS: This is the second string band who receive tuition and encouragement from the main band.
THE BRASS ROOT: Beginners and starters are welcome to this band who are given lessons and support. This band has only been formed in the last year or so, but already boasts 28 members.

Future plans are aimed at spreading music appreciation in the community. A SECOND BRASS ROOTS is planned within the next two years. All these successes and plans will need further rehearsal and teaching facilities, which the band is desperately trying to acquire.

They have the option of purchasing a plot of land at the bottom of Rectory Hill on which to build a band room and were seeking support from local residents for planning consent for this project which would be on waste land which is within the green belt.  Members asked to be advised when the council was putting this out to consultation.
