Gp Capt Teresa Griffiths graduated from St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London in 1988 as a Registered General Nurse.  Commissioning into the Royal Air Force in 1993, she worked at the Princess Mary’s RAF Hospital, Halton for 3 years. Following a tour as a ward sister, Gp Capt Griffiths assumed command of the RAF’s high readiness squadron (DART Sqn), responsible for delivering medical support and tactical aeromedical evacuation to operations worldwide.  From 2006 - 2009 she was a staff officer at the Permanent Joint Headquarters and MOD, assisting in the planning of overseas operations. For this work she was awarded the Associate Royal Red Cross (ARRC) award. Gp Capt Griffiths’ operational service includes deployments to Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Karachi, Kuwait and Baghdad.  In 2003 she was awarded the Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service (QCVS) for her work in support of operations in Iraq.

Promoted to Wing Commander in 2009, Gp Capt Griffiths worked within the Healthcare Directorate, responsible for contract management and healthcare commissioning, before being posted to Royal College of Defence Medicine Birmingham in 2010 as Officer Commanding Nursing responsible injured patients evacuated from Iraq and Afghanistan. In this role she was awarded the OBE. Following completion of the Advanced Command and Staff Course in 2013 she was promoted to Group Captain. In April 2016 she assumed Command of the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) at Headley Court and is responsible for its transition to a new facility in the East Midlands in 2018.
