Professor Allan Buckwell Emeritus Professor Agricultural Economics Imperial College London


This is the second time Allan has addressed the club and he has been invited back to discuss BREXIT

Career:

Lecturer, Newcastle University 1970-84, 

Professor of Agricultural Economics, Wye College, London, 1984-99,

Policy Director, Country Land and Business Association, 2000-11,

Senior Research Fellow, Institute for European Environmental Policy, since 1/1/12

Nuffield Farming Scholarships selector, since 2012 

Chairman Kent CLA, since Nov 2015.


Specialises in British and European rural policy, especially the CAP, trade, technology, environment and structural change in farming and food chain.


Principal interest is balancing the food production and environmental land management roles of agriculture in Britain, Europe, and indeed, globally.


Current projects: UK agricultural policy post Brexit, Optimal place of livestock in EU agriculture.  Three recent projects: Out of the box thinking on CAP (2017),  Nutrient Recovery and Reuse in EU agriculture (2016), Sustainable Intensification of EU Agriculture (2014).
