Young Artist 2017

The winning painting 'A scene on the River Stort' by Alfie Camp

Young Artist Competition 2017

The Young Artist Competition of the Bishop’s Stortford Rotary Club is now in its sixth year. It attracted a large entry of 150 paintings submitted by pupils from five local Primary Schools (Windhill21, Northgate, Richard Whittington, Little Hallingbury, and Spellbrook). They were asked to produce a painting that reflected their interpretation of a scene on the River Stort.

A prize was awarded to each pupil whose painting was judged to be the best of the entries from each of the seven classes that took part. Two special prizes were awarded for paintings, which the judge for the competition, the well-known local artist Margaret Blascos considered to be exceptional. The overall winner of the competition was Alfie Camp, a pupil at Little Hallingbury Primary School. The best of the paintings from each of the schools were exhibited at the Rhodes Centre on 9 May and an awards event was held in the evening.
