On 14th December, President Scott Elliot welcomed members, partners and
guests to the Club's Christmas Night, when after an excellent meal in Mansfield
House Hotel, with drinks provided by the President, the draw for the print of
the " Queensferry Crossing "was made. The lucky winner was Brian Tait, whilst
other prizewinners were Amy Harris, Anne Scott, Craig Neilson, and Dave
Stewart.
Approximately £350 was raised by this prize draw, proceeds to go to Rotary
International's End Polio Now pledge.
Thereafter the company was royally entertained by a number of artistes.
Joyce Tinlin, accompanied by Rev . Alistair Cook and his wife Sheila, was in
superb voice, ( is she ever not in superb voice?) with "O Holy Night", "The
Rose," and "In The Bleak Midwinter."
Rotarian Billy McWatters, in a splendid Tommy Cooper - like role,
amazed the audience with his tricks, and left his assistant Pat
Sutherland quite "handless." Having survived Billy's guillotine Pat then
presented a seasonal quiz composed by Vice President Mairhi Trickett,
(who was unable to be present due to illness) - all the questions were to do
with Christmas, the winners scoring 15 out of 20 (can you name all 9 of
Santa's reindeer?)
Michael Aitken sang a number of ballads, accompanied by his tame orchestra, and proved yet again what a multi-talented singer he is.
Master of Ceremonies Ron Smith recited an amusing politically correct
Christmas poem, and the evening concluded by Ron giving a detailed vote of
thanks to all our talented artistes, and along with President Scott wished all
a Happy Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
