By the time Ines Manuela del Mazo was up, dressed and ready to meet her friend, it was gone seven in the morning and she was beginning to become anxious. She’d told Francisca de Abaunza that she’d be at her house by 7.15 and would have to hurry if she was to be there at the agreed time. They needed to be early if they were to benefit from the bargains at the Plazuela de Selenque market. Fortunately, Francisca lived in the next road and it was an easy walk from the del Mazo’s house in the Calle de Olivar.
