They were planted to raise awareness of the Rotary International End Polio Now project which is also supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
who put in $2 for every occasion $1 raised by Rotary International. The colour of the crocuses represents the gentian violet dye into which every immunised child'seat little finger is dipped to show that they have received the vaccine. This planting was done by Roborough Rotary and supported by their satellite Club Tamerton Rotary who meet at the Queen's
Arms and are working on other projects in the village.
