Rotary Club of Stirling meeting 5th April 2019.
President Sandy opened the meeting by welcoming guests Simon Orr, Tom Jackson & Henry Edwards.
His initial remarks included various golf announcements. The club would take part in the Auchterarder Rotary Golf Day and the draw for the Wilkedin Trophy on 1st May was expected soon.
There were some Convenor’s reports, it was intimated that the flowers at the Stirling Station were in bloom and all looked well. The Entertainment's Convenor is organising a day out to Loch Lomond on the 2nd June. The Foundation Convenor stated that there was still difficulty in finding candidates for the RYLA Camp and asked for the club's input.
After our meal, in the new one course format, we heard a very interesting and wide-ranging talk from Henry Edwards. Henry was a well-known and respected Rugby player with a very impressive CV. After a long and successful career had then moved into coaching. He had been employed by the SRU and been heavily involved in the early professional Rugby era in Scotland at Club, District and International level. After retiring he still does coaching and mentoring.
After some questions and answers, the vote of thanks was given by Martin Ross.
The speakers host for next week will be Ian Richardson, visitors host Peter Mehta.
