Rotary in Amersham's entrant wins first prize in Rotary Young Musician

Yazdi Madon being presented with his prize by RIBI President Debbie Hodge

The final of Rotary Young Musivian was held on 5th May at the Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford, and Jean Bowling, Mike and I were there to support our entrant Yazdi Madon, pianist, who played ‘Malaguena’ by Lecuona, and’ Nocturme in F Minor Op 55’ by Chopin on behalf of our Club, and District 1260. There were 17 contestants in all, 8 instrumentalists (piano, flute, Saxophne, violin & cello) and 7 vocalists.   We did not enter a vocalist.

I am thrilled to say that 11 year old Yazdi (the youngest competitor) was placed first in the instrumental section.  The winning vocalist was Florence Cain District 1090.  This was an afternoon of wonderful music. The attached shows Yazdi  being presented with his shield by Debbie Hodge.
