Visit to HMS Eaglet in Liverpool

thumbnail view

Rainhill Rotary Club members visited HMS Eaglet on the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Members mustered for last dog watch at HMS Eaglet on June 6th and following this earlier visit, President Graham and and David Sandland were invited back to HMS Eaglet to present a cheque on behalf of Rainhill Rotary club to Commander Charles Bagot-Jewitt.

Commander Bagot-Jewitt is the North West area commander for the Marine Society and Sea Cadets.
During the meeting he thanked the club for our generosity and outlined some of the areas and activities that our donation will help fund. Additional pictures from the cheque presentation.

Previous comment from June ...

The officer's ward room was made available to the assembled crew prior to our Royal Naval host laying on an informative presentation regarding the history and purpose of this strategic facility.

After concluding an extensive tour and observing some of the local cadets in training mode, our weary sea dogs retired to the mess once again for relaxing drinks, a cold buffet and social conversation.

A most enjoyable evening was had by all.

Many thanks to our hosts.
