Partners Evening with speaker. Brian Roussel: "My father's War: living in Guernsey under Nazi occupation 1940 - 1945". With seven visiting Rotarians from Brecon RC and presentation of Long Service Awards.

A very well attended Partners' evening with over 40 people present.

President Dean welcomed President Carol Herbert and five other members from Brecon Rotary Club on their scatter week visit to Abergavenny. President Carol also brought along Rotarian Angie Williams who was visiting from the Rotary Club of Margaret River in Western Australia.

Other guests were Helen Buhaenko and her partner Iain Michie from the Abergavenny Ukraine Group, Prospective Associate Member Domini Barnes from Govilon and Olivia Hassall daughter of Past President David Hassall.

President Dean had great pleasure in presenting Rotary Long Service Awards to Past Presidents Abo Anderson, Don Cecil, Martin Love, David Hassall, Anthony Davies and Rotarian David Yendoll. He also presented an Abergavenny Rotary Thank You Certificate to Helen Buheanko for the work she had done in securing over £6,000 worth of District 1150 Disaster Relief Grants for humanitarian aid for the people of Kharkiv, Ukraine in 2023.

Past President Brian Roussel (PHF) gave a fascinating and memorable account of his father's life in Guernsey under the Nazi occupation from 1940 to 1945 and this was very well received by all those present, with lots of questions. The Hassall family answered most of the questions correctly in Brian's Guernsey under Nazi Occupation Quiz.

We now look forward to a return visit to Brecon Rotary Club in the New Year and this promises to be another fun evening.
