A- Club round up: Significant Events
RC Newton le Willows: Craig/Ray reported:

        8Visit to Aquabox, Wirksworth, Derbyshire took place on Aug 17

  • Forming relationships with local sea and air cadets who have spoken at club
  • Craig reported on his latest follow-up visit to Turkey with Disaster Aid.
  • Supporting NLW gardener's Association Annual show.
RC Newton Jubilee: Alan reported:
  • Recent visit to Safety Central near Lyme services.
  • End Polio meal at Raj, Culcheth arranged for 24 Oct.
  • Club International project is with Epiphany Trust working witha children refugee camp in Thailand)
  • Two new female members recruited to club.
RC Leigh: Andre reported:
  • Club working with youth club in High Fold area
  • Return Surplus Hospital Equipment event on 16-17 Sept, 11-4pm Tesco Leigh
  • Dragon’s Den- 17 Oct. £10K to distribute
  • International initiatives include school uniforms to Africa and Lend with Care.
RC Astley: David reported:
    *Club donated £500 to Holly’s Arts
  • Involved in Lend with Care initiative with local school 
  • Sponsoring cycle speedway event
  • Eco greenhouse to be showcased at Manchester Action summit 15/16 Sep
  • Water safety film not released yet
RC Wigan:. Monica reported:
  • Working with Ukrainian families including day out to Liverpool
  • Club centenary events will focus on community with projects/events each month.
  • Rotary path at Haigh Hall will be named Rotary Way. The path will lead to Bird Hide and classroom. Club contributing £10,000
RC Tylesley with Atherton and RC Golborne: No report
B- District Matters; AG Edwin reported:
  • The resignation of DGN Paul Scullion and the background. Letter read from Swati.
  • Events: Manchester Summit 15 Sep including End Polio walk
  • District Disability Sports Day: 9-Sep. Sutton Academy, St Helens. Organised by Anita.
  • Brand Drop in Phil Dyer: 20 Sept. 
  • New Members Nigel Danby 30 Sep, Novotel, Worsley. 9 -12

C. Potential Projects: Discussion
It was generally agreed after discussion that clubs would look for projects and involve other clubs as necessary rather than being forced into one big project. Craig mentioned the relationship NLW are developing with Kyiv Rotary and the potential to get involved with global grants. He will distribute information.
A discussion on Christmas activities will be held over until our October meeting.
