AUGUST – CLWB ROTARI ABERAERON ROTARY CLUB A’R CYLCH

In the continuing series of events in 2023, putting ‘Community First’, providing Service to Our Local Communities, we have had a very busy month in August ‘Working In the Community, With the Community and For the Community’

Firstly we had a street collection in Aberaeron in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. We thank everyone for their contributions in collecting a total of £235.41. Following a Club meeting it was unanimously agreed that the donation, to be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, would be increased from Club funds,  to £500.00.

The second event of the month was Aberaeron Carnival Day. We had our usual stall with bric-a-brac, books, DVDs, Tombola, children’s lollipop game and our famous Coconut shy. It was another excellently organised day by the Aberaeron Town Improvements Committee with the weather playing it’s part. The crowds packed the square field and the streets. After a long, very warm and tiring day we thank all the generous people who donated and spent their money with us raising £695.00. This money will be donated to local groups, charities and good causes.

We were also joined, on the day, by two members of the Penparcau Community Hub Ukraine Appeal Team. They were highlighting the work that they were carrying out in support of the people of Ukraine. They also raised £300.00 from donations and the sponsorship of their ‘Trauma Bears’.

Money raised at the Carnival is donated to local groups, charities and good causes. If you know of any projects being run or planned in the area please contact us to see if we are able to assist.
