INAUGURATION OF MEMORIAL BENCH ON NEWTON HIGH STREET.

Tue, Feb 13th 2024 at 11:45 am - 1:45 pm

We have inaugurated a bench on Newton High Street in memory of those Rotarians who have passed to higher service..

Prior to our regular lunch meeting, Rotarians and partners met on Newton High Street, outside Ariete's, to inaugurate a bench in memory of Rotarians who have passed to higher service.

The brief ceremony was introduced by Club President Craig Roberts and the Mayor of St Helens, Councillor Lynn Clarke was invited to cut the ribbon. Councillor Seve Aspron-Gomez, Deputy Leader and ward councillor, who had facilitated the siting of the bench with the council, was also in attendance.

Margaret Bradshaw, wife of the late Rotarian Jack Bradshaw also attended. The bench is situated outside Arietes on Newton High Street and hopefully will be used by all members of the community and visitors, both as a resting and reflective place. It will mark not only the memory of past Rotarians but also as a reminder of what Rotary does in the community.

Many thanks to the staff of Arietes for opening early for the provision of refresments for those attending. Following the ceremony Rotarians and guests went to Haydock Park Golf Club for the lunchtime meeting.
