Raising a glass to beat Polio

Lytham Gin links with Rotary

Five years ago Rotary linked with Lytham Gin to provide its own unique Passionately Purple Gin - purple because that is the colour inextricably associated with the campaign to End Polio, which was taken up by Rotary 40 years ago.

Every child in the Third World who receives the polio vaccine has their pinky finger dipped in purple ink to indicate to the vaccinators which children have already received it.

To date Rotary on the Fylde has raised over £20,000 and thanks to a pledge by Bill Gates and his Foundation that is tripled, making a total of £60,000 donated. Thanks too, to Sara Dewhurst, the Lytham Gin Lady, who has so generously supported our efforts.

If you want more information or would like to order the fund-raising gin contact Rotarian Herbert Chatters.
