06/08/10 Pakistan Floods; As you will have seen on the BBC news, areas of Pakistan have been deluged by torrential rain and landslides leaving many people homeless. They need shelter and fresh water, so can you all help by sending out a Shelter Box or an Aqua Box to help provide for those caught in the floods. For further information please contact www.shelterbox.org or www.aquabox.org. Shelterbox are over there now and 1900 boxes have been dispatched. Also see the Disaster Response section

Polio Eradication. In December 2007, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation awarded the Rotary Foundation a challenge gift of US$100 M. Rotary International was given three years to December 2010 to raise an equivalent amount. There has been a further grant of $255 Million, associated with a challenge to Rotary to raise a second $100M. This graphic shows a rolling total of how much has been raised so far.
On-line Directory; District 1040 has adopted the D1170 Database Extension sytem, which creates an On-Line District Directory, and replaces the old-style printed Directory. Click on this link to learn about this or here to view/download an Introduction & Guide designed to help Clubs implement it.
