Oswestry's increasingly popular Christmas Parade organised by Oswestry Borderland Rotary Club, raises valuable donations for local charities each year although many of the marshals and bucket collectors along the route are provided by Oswestry Rotary Club and their Oswestry School Interact Group.
So it was in recognition of their support and involvement that, at a recent meeting, the President of the Borderland Club, Stan Smith, presented the Oswestry Club with a cheque for £500, shared from the total collected on the day, to be distributed to the charities of their choice.
£400 will go to Oswestry Library for their Shared Memory Bag project to provide reminiscence materials to help people with dementia and £100 (plus £300 from the Club’s Charity account) will go to the Orthopaedic Institute towards the cost a new microscope.
