Young Musician

 

 

Objective                      The Rotary Young Musician competition was created to give young people the chance to show off their musical talents.

 

Age Groups                  Students in full time education up to age17 on 31st August 2012

                                   

Format                           There are two categories: Solo Instrumental and Solo Vocal

 

Competitions are organised at Club, District, Regional (National Semi-Final) and National level.

 

Prizes                            All entrants will receive a certificate.

 

At the National Final there will be a trophy and a prize for the winner of each category.

 

Judging Criteria           The adjudicators will judge each performance according to the musicality and technical ability of the contestants while also taking into account the choice of a suitable programme of music and overall performance on the day.

 

Dates                             In 2013, the National Final will be held on Saturday 4 May at Longfield Academy Kent. To fit in with this date, District rounds will be held in February/March 2013. Clubs should indicate their intention of entering a participant into the District competition to Bryan Bamber by 19 October 2012. This entry date is important as it may not be possible to accept late entrants.

Entries                          Entrants to the District competition must have competed in a group or club competition. Arrangements can be made for clubs who don’t run their own competition to enter a group competition

 

Rules                             Click Young Musician Rules for an abridged version of the National rules. These will apply at the District and National competitions. Clubs are free to use their own rules for their club competitions
