The third successful Walk by the intrepid Rotary Ramblers

The Gang assemble
The Gang assemble

The day dawned, well 10.30am dawned, grey but dry as our intrepid explorers assembled at the Rose Tree in Shincliffe. Our great leader and his missus didn't look too hopeful as they got out of the car, but we all had faith in his weather forecasting abilities.

Having awaited the arrival of MC [or Napoleon as we know him now], we duly set off up through Shincliffe and past Shincliffe Hall.

After a short, sharp shower, we enjoyed a dry walk, with lots of erudite explanations about landmarks from our esteemed leader and having traversed a ploughed field which our resident Mr. Awkward assured us should not have been ploughed up to and including the path. despite the threat of litigation we continued to the Rose Tree, where our back up team of Mike and Olwen were waiting to help us with a well-deserved and very delicious lunch. And then it started raining - good call DY !

Another very enjoyable and successful Ramble ; looking forward to Neville's Cross Battlefield walk next month.
