Rotary Ramble Number 4

Wed, Oct 10th 2012 at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

The Miners' Hall was the starting point for our walk.

Before setting out on our expedition to the Battlefield of Nevilles Cross, we enjoyed a fascinating talk by Patrick Conway and a tour of the Miners' Hall.

Ready for the Off

Then, led by our intrepid Guide Sherpa Costello we set off briskly up Redhills and reached the top rather less briskly, but still going strong.

I've got the map, I'm the leader !

Having conquered Mt. Redhills we walked past the new, improved Johnston school   - did I say improved ? Standing on the bridge over the A690 Professor Yates regaled us with tales of the battle and derring do, before we moved down into Flass Vale and through Ribchester territory [ Alan has promised to lead another ramble in the Vale later] where we all marvelled at the beautiful flora and fauna and Brian Peart said 'I tried to build houses here.'

Then back into the city and to the hostelry under the railway viaduct for a well deserved and very good repast to conclude another very successful ramble. Join us next time, you don't know what you're missing !
