LET'S PARTY

Amidst all the serious intentions of Rotary there is always time to socialise with friends. Every year the Rotary Club of Houghton-le-Spring has a Christmas Dinner and this year we returned to one of our popular venues at Beamish Hall. The night starts with a welcoming drink in the bar warmed by a real fire.

After the meal we were entertained by a Quiz based on adverts from President Graham, a newspaper game by Michael and a wonderful musical contribution from Houghton Brass Band. This involved President Graham leading the singing of Christmas Carols in his usual enthusiastic way.

 
 
Eventually each table had to stand to sing one of the verses of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" although Grace was left standing as the only one of "Five Golden Rings"
 
The evening was rounded off perfectly with the presentation of a Long Service Award to Mel  for 35 years membership of Rotary.
