2013 Club Handover

2013 CLUB HANDOVER

The Rotary year finishes on June 31st. The first Club meeting in July is the day for formally handing over the chain of office of President. The Rotary Club of Houghton-le-Spring met on Wednesday July 3rd. 2013 to welcome Graham McGrath as our new President. He is familiar with the role. He was President in his old Club of Swinton and Pendlebury exactly 20 years ago, in 1993-4. He joined us about 10 years ago when he moved to the North East and became our President in 2008-9. So for the third time of asking he should be getting quite used to the job.

The Immediate Past President Len hands the President's ribbon to Graham. In return Graham gave Len his own Past President's badge.

We are lucky enough to have nominees for future Presidents till June 2016 so Graham was happy to welcome Geoff to the post of Vice President.

We also had our Assistant Governor, Denise Tate, as our guest. She wished Graham and the Club the very best for 2013-14.

Finally Past President Alan unveiled the recently updated Club President's Board. This includes the names of all Presidents since our founding in 1947. Alan was himself President in 1994-95, 2001-2 and 2011-12. He is showing it to George Bennison who was Club President in 1976-77, 1996-97 and 2006-7. He also has the honour of being the only Club member to become District Governor in 1993-94.
