District 1180 Final of Youth Speaks Competition - Catrin Finch Centre, Glyndwr University, Wrexham

Fri, Mar 6th 2015 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

The Final for the District round was held at the Catrin Finch Centre at Glyndwr University, Wrexham on Friday 6th March 2015

Representing the sponsoring club of Oswestry Rotary Club was Moreton Hall School in both the Intermediate and Senior competitions.

Intermediate team members were: Chairperson - Emily King, Speaker - Georgina Lang, Vote of thanks - Romy Grigg. The title of the speech was "By Heart".

Senior team members were: Chairperson - Sophie Mercer, Speaker - Mary Richardson, Vote of thanks - Morgan Darcy Rees-Deacon. The title of the speech was "A Step Too Far".

Both teams were successful and presented extremely well with the spokeperson for the judges of the Senior competition commenting on the sensitive presentation by the Speaker Mary Richardson with regard to the way dementia sufferers are helped and supported by the medical profession or not as the case may be. He also mentioned how well this group worked as a team.

7 teams competed in the Senior competition and 6 in the Intermediates so competition was stiff!

The Regional round is next on 29th March 2015 at Forest Hills Hotel in Frodsham, Cheshire

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Oswestry we wish the 2 teams the best of luck.
