Tonight's 'victim' Maureen Powell talks to John Ward
Tonight's 'victim' Maureen Powell talks to John Ward

This year's interviewee was Maureen Powell, known to most of us as wife of our Club member John Powell.

Guided by John, Maureen spoke of her childhood and starting work in the world of insurance where she and John met.  Supporting John in running his own business in Oswestry, Maureen had two children and also found time to learn, and pass on, skills in embroidery and other crafts.

A keen member of the sadly defunct Oswestry Inner Wheel Club for many years and rising to District level in the organisation, Rotary also proved an important part of Maureen's life too.

All present were impressed with the wide range of areas Maureen has become involved with and wondered how she found time to fit it all in!

This was a 'different' view of Rotary and made an interesting change.

Thanks to Maureen and John for an entertaining evening.

Focus Evening, Monday 15th February 6.30 for 7.00pm will be two courses with choice at a cost of £13.50.

Please find the menu for the Focus Evening below.

We have to pre-order our choices and you all seemed reluctant to order for your spouses (can't think why). The list will be at club again next week but it might be easier to e-mail me direct with your choice. We have 4 starters and 4 mains - I've cut every thing out that has supplements.

It might be helpful if you copied me into any apologies as well as Ian please if you are not attending, as you must let the Wynnstay know yourself.

Thanks for your co-operation.

John Ward
