Mock Interviews for the Year 11s at The Marches Academy

Year 11 students at The Marches School tested out their interview skills by taking part in mock interviews
with members of The Oswestry Rotary Club on Friday, January 22.

Rotary members kindly donated their time and expertise to provide over 100 mock interviews lasting half an hour each for The Marches Year 11 cohort.

At the end of the day, Year 11 students met in the school hall for a closing ceremony where certificates and vouchers were given out for ‘A Student with a Well-rounded Character as Demonstrated at Interview’, ‘Presentation of CV and Personal Statement’ and ‘The Most Notable Interview’.

Michael Jones, member of the Rotary Club, commented: “The standard has been extremely good. Students who have taken part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award have discussed important skills they own which will be a real door-opener for them.”

Don Howard further commented: “Students have proved to me that they can take over the interview, be articulate and give good eye contact, all of which are fantastic interview techniques.”

Lee Holt, student of The Marches School, said: “Mr Sinclair interviewed me and he was really inviting and helpful. He discussed career opportunities with me and advised me how to go forward by keeping my options open.

This valuable activity would not be possible without the kind support of the Rotary and the school is  grateful, as always, for the ‘real life’ opportunities these interviews offer.
