Memory Walk

The event takes place on Sunday September 27th

The walk will start from Bishop Auckland Market Place at 1100hrs.

Walkers will need to check in and this will start at 1045hrs.

The distance is approximately 3 miles.

The walk starts from the market place and goes over the viaduct and on to the old Willington railway line.

After about 1 mile it drops down towards the river and follows Weardale Way until reaching the road over the old Newton Cap Bridge.

The walk is completed by walking up Newton Cap Bank and returning to the market place.

The walk includes some rough terrain and some parts are unsuitable for pushchairs/wheelchairs etc.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Suitable footwear and long trousers are recommended.

There will be guides at the front and rear of the group and walkers are asked to cooperate fully with them. There will also be marshals at the crossings of roads and at the foot of Newton Cap Bank.

Walkers are also asked to take extra care on roadside pavements and to be alert to cyclists on the old railway line.

St John’s Ambulance will be in attendance.
