Mock Interviews for the Year 11s

The Interviews have been provided for The Marches School students since 2012, using a process and documentation previously pioneered by The Rotary Club of Wrexham Erddig. Volunteers from members of Oswestry Rotary Club, their spouses and known contacts who are willing and capable of giving students are sought for their much needed experience.

The experience of the interviewers guides the students to bring forward interesting and useful information which would be of interest to a prospective employer, and provides valuable feedback and tips on how the students could succeed in future interviews.

The Marches School

On Friday we welcomed 55 volunteers from local businesses and Rotary Clubs to support our annual Year 11 Mock Interview Day.

During the day 225 Year 11 students participated in a 30 minute mock interview where they received feedback from their recently compiled CVs, tips for interviews and advice on how to stand out in a competitive job market.

Feedback from both students and volunteers was incredibly positive. In the end of day assembly the Rotarians told the students how impressed they had been by each and every one of them and students left for the weekend feeling immensely proud of themselves.

The school has a strong link with the community and we are always very grateful for the time and effort volunteers spend on organising and attending these events.

Another great success with Rotarians from all three clubs as well as friends involved. Early indications both from the school and the students is that it was a very worthwhile project with much being gained by the students. As always we have identified some possible improvements which will be considered by the committee before next year. My thanks to all those involved, including the school for allowing us to go in and try to help the students, but in particular to Jo Banks whose sterling work insured the day ran very smoothly.
