About us

Welcome to Limerick Central Rotary Club

Limerick Central Rotary Club was proudly chartered on 23 November 2022, with Mr. John Kelly as our founding President. Our Club President for 2025–26 is Mrs. Denise Brazil. We are a vibrant, growing club based in the heart of Limerick City Centre, and we warmly welcome new members who wish to join us and contribute to the wonderful work we do together.

Our mission is to engage in meaningful projects at a local, national and international level — projects that genuinely support and uplift people and communities. Guided by the Rotary motto, “Service above Self”, we bring together our time, energy, skills and experience in service of the many initiatives we are proud to be part of.

To date, we have achieved a great deal:

We raised and donated over €1,400 to the Rotary Support for Ukraine programme, providing vital assistance to those affected by the conflict.

We completed a biodiversity project, creating a 350-metre walkway and supporting the planting of over 5,000 native Irish trees — a lasting gift to our local environment.

We run the Rotary Young Writer Competition, receiving entries from talented young people. One of our writers won the senior category at district level.

We successfully deliver the Young Chef Competition across second-level schools in the Limerick area.

Through the Don Reddan Charity Golf Classic — held in fond and lasting memory of our beloved founder member Don Reddan — we have raised over €30,000 for local charities.

We have sourced and donated bicycles to the Limerick Bike Hub, supporting sustainable and accessible transport in our community.

We run the Youth Leadership Competition, with our club candidate winning the Zone Final and representing us at the European Parliament in Strasbourg — a truly remarkable achievement.

Making a global impact

Beyond our local work, we are proud members of Rotary’s global campaign to eliminate polio worldwide. Since the campaign began in 1985, extraordinary progress has been made — with just two countries remaining before the virus can be declared fully eradicated. We also support entrepreneurs in developing countries through the Lend With Care microfinance programme, helping people to build sustainable livelihoods and brighter futures. Additionally, we donated a ShelterBox to communities devastated by the earthquake in Turkey, providing emergency shelter to families in desperate need.
