About us

The Rotary Club of Margate joins the nation in mourning the loss of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Over his decades of service, he dedicated himself every day to the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. Rest in Peace.

The Rotary Club of Margate has 28  members and was founded in 1921 and is the oldest club in District 1120 which has 80 clubs covering Kent, East Sussex and parts of LondWe meet weekly for fellowship, often with speakers dealing with topics of local and global importance. Membership reflects a wide cross-section of the local community. Many lifelong friendships are formed. We use our skills and vocations to help our local communities both at home and abroad.

We have contact clubs in Europe – Gent (Belgium), Lille Sud (France), Worms (Germany) and Zutphen (Holland) as we pursue our aim of global peace and understanding of different nations. We have a varied social programme of events not only locally but nationally and internationally.

Rotary members believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues. Our 35,000+ clubs work together to:

    • Promote peace
    • Fight disease
    • Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
    • Save mothers and children
    • Support education
    • Grow local economies
