31 members including Miles Orr ( Breakfast Club member) were present at Mr miles to celebrate ten years since opening on 24th Feb 2010. Club Visits :- Richard G and others are touring District to promote DG Elect Rory's district conference, offers of help please contact Richard. John Binns visited the Kingsbridge clubs in Devon. Richard G, introduced Colin Barrell who gave a brief life history, starting work as a teller in Lloyds Bank, and not seeing any prospects of promotion in the near future he applied for, and was accepted as a manager with McDonalds. At that time there were less than 60 outlets in Britain. Following appointments in the South East he moved back to manage the Taunton McDonalds which he then took on as a Franchise. After 17 years he wanted a new challenge; a tea shop was suggested , and Mr. Miles was the result, opened after many difficulties exactly ten years earlier to the day. After Colin's talk there followed a discussion on ways to move the club forward and attract new younger members. No decisions were taken but the following ideas were raised: - a) = club projects would be run a small group with a team leader and 2-3 members with the involvement of club members when necessary. May include non-members, other organisations. This would replace the existing committee structure. b) = Rotaract, does not exist in district, could be a source of new Rotarians. Could more be done in Youth work.
c) = concern was raised that changes should not alienate existing members. consideration could be given to forming clubs with different formats e.g. Satellite, e-club, family group club.
The Ball Draw was won by Bill Tregillus but no Joker, next draw £15
