Durham Elvet Rotarians Tom and Phil of the Rotary North East 'One Life Initiative' accompany 'Sparky' and 'Casey' to a community defibrillator awareness walk in Washington.

Rotary North East 'One Life Initiative' team members Tom and Phil accompanied mascots 'Sparky' and 'Casey' to the start of 'Lesley's Legacy Walk' in Washington this morning. This is the 4th year of this annual event with the aim being to raise awareness of the community defibrillators in the town and to promote their importance in being ready and available for deployment via the North East Ambulance Service in the event that someone experiences a cardiac arrest or suspected cardiac arrest.

Despite her serious illness, Lesley Ann Baker devoted her time to delivering the 'message' about defibrillators across the town and adjacent areas. Her aspirations were to see at least one community defibrillator installed in every village area of Washington. After her sad passing, members of 'Lesley's Defib Team' continued her work and this week saw the project completed when the last defibrillator was revealed outside the Washington Primary Care Centre in Glebe Village. A big 'shout out' to those who have seen this through and we are proud to have been able to give our support throughout.

Most of all - thank you Lesley for everything you did for the community
