John Dawson was a wonderfully dedicated Rotarian who was always the first to volunteer and carried out many projects on behalf of Rotary. Having joined Rotary in 1991 he was President in 2000-1 and made a Paul Harris Fellow in 2009. He ran a contact the Elderly Group, organised the spectacle collection, planted crocuses, helped run the Christmas Markets Tombola stall and, in 2006, travelled to Sri Lanka post Tsunami with a delegation from District 1040. Apart from Rotary John was a keen member of the Harrogate Male Voice Choir and a supporter of Marie Curie. For many years he was the owner of the Brymor Ice Cream Parlour on Castlegate and before that a travel agent. We remember him with fondness and send our condolences to his family.
