On March 23rd our inspirational speaker was Thorsten Bruce, a member of Harrogate Rotary Club, who has completed a 9,000 mile cycle ride from Harrogate to the Himalayas, raising £20,000 for the Young Minds Charity and for the Rainbow Children’s Home in Nepal. Having reached his 50th birthday Thorsten decided it was time to recalibrate his life and to set himself a challenge. Not normally a cyclist, the first challenge involved acquiring the right equipment, planning the route, and getting the necessary visas for the 20 countries on the route. Setting of via Hull in March 2025 the journey took him through to October 2025 and involved a variety of experiences, including a meeting with the Dalai Lama, before ending up at the Rainbow Children’s Home in Nepal. Thorsten’s photographs record the stunning scenery he passed through with arid deserts and snow-capped mountains. Thorsten is planning to present his talk at 7pm on Wednesday 13th May at Roosters Taproom. To book see the attached flyer and QR code. Don’t miss it!
